Leroy Talley has been a member of the SIFAT Board of Directors since fall 1999. He is a native of Chambers County, Alabama. His education includes a B.S. in Textile Engineering from Auburn University and an M.S. in Textiles and Technology from the Institute of Textile Technology in Charlottesville, VA.
He served seven years in the U. S. Army, Alabama National Guard and U. S. Army Reserve with the rank of First Lt. He was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for his active Army service as a Research & Development Coordinator. Leroy’s business career included 20 years of service with WestPoint Pepperell and 21 years in telecommunications with ITC Holding Co., Telecom*USA and ITC^DeltaCom. His roles included IT development and management roles in IT, manufacturing, administration, and human resources. He retired in 2004 as VP – Human Resources for ITC^DeltaCom.
Most of Leroy’s church life was in the Church of God (Anderson, IN), but he also spent extended periods in the Methodist Church and the Christian Church. He is currently an elder with Spring Road Christian Church in Lanett, AL.
Leroy has been on mission trips with SIFAT to Quito and Guayaquil, Ecuador. He devoted much of his efforts with SIFAT to administrative matters, especially human resources and special projects. He worked closely with the Executive Director and board on compensation and benefit issues, plus assisted with recruitment of several staff members.
Eleanor, his wife of 50 years, has been very supportive of his work with SIFAT. They are very thankful for the opportunities to serve people around the world as part of the SIFAT family.
