Bert is a ramblin’ wreck from Georgia Tech with a degree in industrial engineering. He has spent his career in the plastics manufacturing industry.

Bert is married to his college sweetheart, Julie. They have three adult children and one grandson.He is active in the Walk to Emmaus community and enjoys spending time with his family, traveling and outdoor activities.

He was first exposed to SIFAT through his kid’s trips to Ecuador and Learn & Serve. Bert is a long-time member of Mt Bethel UMC in Marietta, Ga., and served on the 2008 SIFAT mission team to help build the bridge in Quesimpuco. That trip impacted him so much that he was “hooked” on SIFAT and serving in Bolivia. Since then, Bert has been a team leader for the Mt. Bethel men’s team six times.
