Isaiah helps former child soldiers receive job skills training and rehabilitation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Project Funded!

Project:

To install a roof on the new classroom building for the former child soldier rehabilitation center.

Summary:

Isaiah works to rehabilitate former child soldiers forced to serve in the rebel armies during civil war in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. His center provides education, counseling and job skills training, but the center needed three classrooms and a trainers’ apartment. The building walls had been constructed, but were at risk of decaying from rain because a roof had not been built.

After receiving funds, Isaiah wrote, “The Learning Center is a safe, friendly learning environment created to encourage young people who were not able to achieve any educational programs to help them build their skills and explore their creativity. It will enable them to take better care of themselves and develop a sense of pride and self-worth by offering a wide range of learning skills, including job skills for entrepreneurship, farming and appropriate technology for self-sustainability.”
