Michael’s youth program needs fruit trees in Uganda.

Project Funded!

Project: To train 50 youth in agricultural techniques to contribute to the eradication of poverty, food insecurity and fostering a lasting quality of life for the local children in Michael’s village.

Summary: Michael, a 1997 graduate of SIFAT’s training, plans to work with about 50 youth, ages 13 to 18, by holding monthly training in fruit tree and agro-growing techniques along with discipleship lessons. He will then provide seedlings for these youth to take home and plant. Follow up will be provided to ensure the plants are growing properly. He envisions that when the trees begin producing fruit in three years, these children’s cash crops will enable them to earn a sustainable living for the next 20 years. Fruit trees include avocado, mango, orange, guava, jackfruit, papaya and passion fruit. Farm products include cabbage, pineapple, egg plants, tomatoes and onions.
